Anibal Ernesto Fosbery was born in Buenos Aires on June 23, 1933. On December 6, 1959, he was ordained as a priest of the Order of Preachers (OP). He died on May 5, 2022, at the age of 88.<\/b><\/p>\n

In 1962, he founded the Fraternity of Groups Saint Thomas Aquinas as a response to the Second Vatican Council, and in 1997, it was recognized as an International Association of the Faithful of Pontifical Right.<\/span><\/p>\n

This effective action that the Holy Spirit inspired in him was extremely fruitful for the Glory of God and the good of the Church. As a result, different fraternities and institutions were created, such as: Fraternity of Groups Saint Thomas Aquinas; Priestly Fraternity Saint Thomas Aquinas; Apostolic Fraternity Saint Catherine of Siena; 26 educational institutions and 1 university. <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Shortly after he was ordained priest, he was sent to Rome where he completed his doctorate on Theology in the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas with his thesis on “The Illumination Doctrine and the Middle Ages.”<\/b><\/p>\n

While he was in Europe, he witnessed in person all the changes the Catholic Church was introducing inspired by the Holy Spirit in the Second Vatican Council.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inspired by the Council’s aim to promote the involvement of lays in the mission and the life of the Catholic Church, and with the drive of an entrepreneur spirit, Father Fosbery made a fundamental apostolic work for the Glory of God and the good of the Church.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On October 7, 1962, he founded the Fraternity of Groups Saint Thomas Aquinas (Fasta, for its acronym in Spanish) on the festivity of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, with the mission of evangelize the family, the youth and the culture.<\/b><\/p>\n

In 1997, Fasta was recognized by the Holy See as an International Association of the Faithful of Pontifical Right, and it has now several faith communities in Argentina, Spain, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico and the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also founded the Priestly Fraternity Saint Thomas Aquinas, which has several priests and seminarians, and the Fraternity Saint Catherine of Siena for consecrated women who are called Catherines.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Thanks to his wide experience on the educational field, he occupied several important positions in the Order of Preachers, Universities and international organizations. He founded Fasta University and an Educational Network made up of several schools.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was prior of <\/span>the Saint Dominic’s Monastery<\/span><\/i> of Tucum\u00e1n; dean of <\/span>the Saint Thomas Aquinas University of the North (Unsta),<\/span><\/i> provincial prior of <\/span>the Order of Preachers,<\/span><\/i> president of <\/span>the Council of Rectors of Argentinian Private Universities (CRUP)<\/span><\/i> and member of the <\/span>National Commission of University Evaluation and Accreditation (Coneau)<\/span><\/i> of the Argentinean Ministry of Culture and Education.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding international bodies, he was president of <\/span>the Latin America Organization of Catholic Universities;<\/span><\/i> member of the Council of Deans of <\/span>the Board of the International Federation of Catholic Universities<\/span><\/i> and adviser of <\/span>the Latin America Organization of Catholic Universities;<\/span><\/i> Vice President for Latin America of <\/span>the Thomas Aquinas International Society (SITA),<\/span><\/i> and corresponding member of <\/span>the Pontifical Academy of Saint Thomas Aquinas,<\/span><\/i> located in Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

During his mission as priest and educator, he published 82 works and made a major contribution to the Catholic culture.<\/b><\/p>\n

He was a prolific writer and, consequently, produced 77 works about different subjects such as theology, religion, pastoral care, philosophy, culture, politics, ethics, social issues and history. Among them, we can find “The Catholic Culture”, “Parata sunt omnia”, “The identity of ministerial priesthood”, “Thomism and spirituality: thoughts on spiritual life according to Saint Thomas.”<\/span><\/p>\n

He held several conferences in universities and institutions throughout the country and in Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Italy and Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fr. Fosbery was a well-known public speaker, a catholic and polemical thinker who is remembered for his participation in the TV program “The Devil’s Advocate” along with the journalist Ra\u00fal Urtizberea.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
